The Inexperienced Dog Owner

Have you owned a dog, and then realised you were not prepared? Me, too.
Didn't realise how much effort went into a dog? I didn't, either.
Are you confused by the dog training world? Don't get me started.
Let me share with you my experience.
From the unknowing puppy owner, to a knowledgeable dog owner, follow my journey as I ponder the efforts of owning a dog.
About this blog
What started as a passion for animals, turned into owning my very first puppy. What started as not knowing what I was doing, turned into learning and teaching others how to responsibly bring up their puppy into a trained dog.
We all know the challenges of owning a dog. Believe me, I have been there, am still there, and probably will be for the rest of my life. But let's reflect on the life-changing fact that all dogs are trainable. We live and learn from our mistakes. And although all dogs are different, and we have to adapt our training techniques to each individual dog, we then learn a whole new world of dog training.
Here, I give you an insight as to how inexperienced I was owning my puppy, and how I have strived to ensure he gets the best care, training and lifestyle from everything I've learnt (and am still learning!).
Follow my blog, join in discussions and enjoy the journey of owning and training your dogs.

About me
Who am I to be telling you what to do?
The answer to that, is, although I've had little experience in professional dog training thus far, I base my training techniques off of my experience, and hearing the experience of others. I am simply here to share with you my personal experience.
We've recently moved from a little town called Norseman, in the Goldfields of WA. Here, I worked as a Shire Ranger, and found my love for working with dogs. After research (and a lot of delaying due to Coronavirus), I found that I wanted a career in Dog Behaviour and Training, that would eventually expand into dog grooming and a dream of owning my own kennels.
Gaining a Certificate in Dog Behaviour and Training, I will be nationally accredited to teach dog training in Australia. I'm currently living in regional Western Australia (WA) with my fiance, but am based out of my hometown, Mandurah, WA.
A little about my dog
Timmy is a Border Collie. He's loving, energetic, but, I'll be honest, can be an absolute nightmare. My fiance and I adopted him from a breeder North of Perth when he was 8 weeks old. He is now over 5 years old.
We get plenty of compliments about his behaviour, his shiny coat, his happy smile and his attitude. But they take all that back once they see him chase his tail obsessively, whilst barking. That's right, barking at his tail, as well.
But he's also contributed significantly to drive me into dog training. And for that, I thank him (I thank him for plenty of other reasons, too, don't worry!).
